After a hiatus of several months, Spirit Airlines will relaunch its direct service between Fort Lauderdale (FLL) and Cap-Haïtien from March 5, 2025. Suspended since November 2024 following the shooting down of several aircraft at Port-au-Prince's Toussaint Louverture International Airport, these flights mark the airline's return to an essential route for travellers linking Florida and Haiti.

This announcement, welcomed by the Haitian community, restores access to a vital link between northern Haiti and one of the main air hubs in the United States. Fort Lauderdale is an important gateway for members of the diaspora and travellers from Haiti, who no longer have many options for leaving the country.
