Despite being tasked with addressing the insecurity that has plunged the country into chaos, the Presidential Transition Council has failed to make an impact ten months after taking office. The country continues its descent into uncertainty. Weakened by a corruption scandal, the CPT has been in crisis for several months. The nine sectors that signed the April 3 Agreement, which led to the establishment of the CPT, have not reached a consensus on how to resolve this crisis. They remain divided over the future of the presidential advisors and the institution that currently serves as the Presidency.

CARICOM’s Eminent Personalities, who played a key role in the formation of the CPT, are struggling to bring stakeholders together to define a new future for the Council. While all the signatories of the April 3 Agreement participated in the December 16 meeting, not all of them were eager to attend the February 6 session.
