On Wednesday, February 12, 2025, in the backyard of the town hall, an unusual commotion disturbed the usual calm. At the gate leading to the courtyard, where hundreds of displaced people were gathered, a young man in his twenties tried to prevent others from entering. A heated argument broke out between him and a small crowd determined to get inside. With a simple display of our press credentials, we were granted access—the gate opened and immediately shut behind us.
In the courtyard adjacent to the town hall, several families have taken shelter. On this particular Wednesday, the atmosphere was chaotic. Children, who under normal circumstances would be in school, ran, played, or chatted in small groups. Adults, who would usually be occupied with work, either talked among themselves or lamented their misfortune. The sight of our press vests immediately drew everyone toward us—each person eager to share their story of hardship.
