On paper, the CPT and Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé govern a normal country. They are finalizing their grip on the state through a flurry of appointments and, as if it were an absolute emergency, are focused on turning Thomassin and Mare Rouge into communes. Preoccupied with managing their own affairs, they endlessly administer stale promises of restoring peace and security. Despite the effectiveness of their communication, they struggle to erase reality: the massacres and the thousands of people, including residents of Kenscoff, who have been freshly cast onto the road to exile.

For the approximately 18,000 displaced persons, 1,200 of whom are housed in the four sites managed by the Kenscoff municipality, returning home remains uncertain on this Friday, February 14, 2025. Expelled from their communities in Gode, Kafou Bèt, Kikwa, and others, they have now joined the ranks of the displaced—over a million in 2024, according to the UN.
