The Minister of Public Health and Population, Dr. Bertrand Sinal, inaugurated the Petit-Trou-de-Nippes health center and the Carrefour Honore health center in Asile on February 17, 2025. The Prime Minister was present and promised to improve the social determinants of health. The Nippes department has a significant gap to fill, with only 3.68% of the country’s health institutions located there, and a total of 164 medical professionals serving a population of 382,386, according to the 2023 MSPP statistical report.

Regarding Nippes, it is important to note that the distribution of health infrastructure and the availability of resources in a health mapping are not necessarily dictated by geographical considerations. A small geographical region can, in fact, be a major region from a healthcare perspective.
