Against all odds, it was the Bavarians who struck first, opening the scoring through Klara Bühl (33’, 0–1). Shortly after, they attempted in vain to score a second goal in hopes of erasing their deficit from the first leg, where they had lost at home (0–2) to the Fenottes. Despite numerous chances created by the French side, the halftime score remained (0–1) in favor of the Germans.
At the start of the second half, Melchie Daëlle Dumornay (46’, 1–1) brought Lyon level, scoring her fourth goal in seven matches. Diani (54’, 2–1) then gave the lead to the Fenottes. The Haitian international, highly visible throughout the match, delivered a key pass to Diani, who then set up Tabitha Chawinga (60’, 3–1). And once again, it was Dumornay who served up the fourth goal (90’ +4) on a silver platter for Ada Hegerberg (4–1).
