Eugène Pierre Louis acknowledged that the new Executive Council is installed in a context where UEH is almost on its knees. Beyond structural issues, UEH is facing its destiny in the current crisis. The dean of FDSE painted a grim picture of the current situation at UEH. With no space to hold classes or thesis defenses, the administrations of the entities in the streets, and library books packed in boxes or bags, the situation at UEH is alarming. “Everything has been reduced to a shadow of itself,” Mr. Pierre Louis complained, noting that most faculties located near the National Palace and Champ de Mars have been looted, vandalized, and then set on fire, rendering them almost dysfunctional and inoperative.

“Some courses are being held online, but with many difficulties: no continuous electricity; the majority of students do not have access to a laptop, not even a smartphone. Left to their own devices, they are almost on the brink of despair,” Mr. Pierre Louis alarmed.
