“Haitian people, you have spoken. Your voice has been heard. We are aware of your misery and your suffering under the yoke of this criminal system that is turning the country into a living hell for all its sons and daughters,” began Fritz Alphonse Jean, President of the Transitional Presidential Council (CPT), in his address to the nation on Thursday, April 3, 2025—the first anniversary of the so-called April 3 Accord that led to the formation of the CPT.

“Haitian people, we heard your voice questioning our commitments made one year ago through the April 3 Accord. We had committed to a rupture transition, where restoring security would be the highest priority,” recalled the president in his national address, broadcast in the morning on Haiti’s national television.
