Introduced under Article 34-1 of the French Constitution, the resolution voted by the French Senate calls to “promote the restoration of security in Haiti,” with the aim of “creating the necessary conditions for the establishment of a political process to resolve the crisis.”
Filed in the Senate on July 20, 2023, the text of the resolution was proposed in response to the urgent need to “help the Haitian population and restore security in the country.” In the final version voted by the parliamentary assembly, in addition to expressing solidarity with the Haitian people and condemning the violence imposed by gangs, the resolution emphasizes the urgency of the “full and complete deployment of the Multinational Security Support Mission (MSS).”
