The Haitian executive, composed of the CPT/Government tandem, has just provided the country with a revised budget approximately six months before the end of the 2024-2025 fiscal year, Le Nouvelliste learned on Monday, April 14, 2025. A statement from the presidency's communication office described the revised budget, adopted during the Council of Ministers' ordinary session that same Monday, as a “war budget to respond to the security and social emergency.” According to the statement, 37% of the budget envelope is allocated to strengthening the security forces (Haitian National Police – PNH, Armed Forces of Haiti – FADH, intelligence services, and specialized equipment) “in order to restore public security and combat armed groups that threaten national stability.”

According to the authorities, this new budget is intended “for security, strengthening food security, social protection, and infrastructure improvement.” These are the main priorities of this revised budget, which aims to address the country’s socio-political, economic, and financial challenges in a context of widespread insecurity and the loss of control over several cities and neighborhoods across the national territory to armed groups.
