On Easter Monday, the head of the Catholic Church, Pope Francis, passed away. For Catholics, he waited until the end of the Holy Week celebrations before taking his final bow. All his duties had been fulfilled.
This Argentine pope was unique in his firm stance in favor of the poor and of social groups the Church had traditionally neglected or ignored. He was the first Jesuit in 473 years to lead the Holy Church and remained faithful to the spirit of that religious order, founded in 1540.
