After defeating the Azerbaijan national team (3-0) in a friendly match on March 22, the Haitian team, coming off two victories in the World Cup qualifiers against Saint Lucia (2-1) and Barbados (3-1), is getting ready to play its third match in this competition against Aruba, which will be playing at home.

Before facing the Grenadiers, the Aruba national team had gone two matches without a win—a draw (2-2) against Saint Lucia and a loss (0-2) to Curaçao—and most recently drew (1-1) with Barbados. Diererick Lydens (15th minute) equalized for Aruba after Omani Leacock had opened the scoring for Barbados from a penalty.
