Since December 2024, CARICOM’s Eminent Persons Group has been urging the sectors involved in the formation of the Transitional Presidential Council (CPT) to consult with one another about the future of the Council. The meeting held on July 1 was yet another opportunity for CARICOM’s envoys to raise awareness among Haitian actors about the need to reach a consensual solution to the internal crisis within the CPT. Although every time they are in the presence of CARICOM representatives the actors agree on the idea of meeting to discuss the next steps for the Transitional Presidential Council, afterward, those involved in setting up the CPT remain unable to organize even a single meeting among themselves without a summons from CARICOM.
