The 70th anniversary of compas direct presents the perfect opportunity to highlight the urgent need to create a museum dedicated to preserving this memory and to honor the founder of this Haitian heritage. Such a museum would serve to gather objects that marked key moments in the history of compas.

“Culturally, we are more inclined to vilify than to honor,” lamented Clément Bélizaire. A former member of Mizik Mizik and Haïti Twoubadou, he mentioned, for example, that his main guitar once belonged to Claude Marcelin. Still in good condition today, this instrument could be displayed in a museum dedicated to compas, but such a place still does not exist.
