On June 24, 1976, Saint-Jean’s Day, Magnum Band was born at the Masonic Temple “L’Arche de Noé” in Miami. Created by André "Dadou" Pasquet and Claude "Tico" Pasquet, this musical ensemble would permanently transform the Haitian soundscape under the slogan “The Only Difference.”

Before joining forces, the Pasquet brothers had already made names for themselves in renowned ensembles. A guitar prodigy at thirteen, Dadou collaborated with Pépé Bayard, Gérard Thézan, and Fritz Grand-Pierre before joining Tabou Combo at fifteen. Between 1970 and 1976, he recorded four major albums: À la Canne à Sucre (1972), Respect (1973), 8e Sacrement (1974), and The Masters (1975). The track New York City from 8e Sacrement propelled the band onto the international scene.
