Georges Wilbert Franck, Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, during the 20th edition of the government program “Les Mardis de la Nation” on August 5, 2025, presented a series of actions which, he said, demonstrate the government’s commitment to strengthening social support in Haiti.
“One of the main priorities is to find solutions for internally displaced persons (IDPs). Last month, 3,000 families living in makeshift camps received financial assistance. This was the first step in a national program aimed at helping these people resettle. The goal is also to free up important sites such as the Faculty of Applied Linguistics, Lycée Anténor Firmin, and Caroline Chauveau School, which are currently occupied by displaced persons,” explained the head of the MAST.
