It has been more than a week since a new coordinator took office at the Presidential Transitional Council (CPT). Laurent Saint-Cyr succeeded Fritz Alphonse Jean. This change within the CPT precipitated the fall of Rameau Normil from the leadership of the Haitian National Police (PNH). In the meantime, other major changes have been made in the upper ranks of the PNH. Photos of installations are flooding social media. Strategic meetings are being announced here and there. At the same time, the executive branch has renewed the usual state of security emergency for the departments where gangs rule. Measures that still fail to impress the bandits. On the contrary, in some areas, they are intensifying their abuses against the population. Kidnapping, which had become less talked about, is once again making the news. In Kenscoff, cries of distress are growing louder. The security forces, after suffering human losses, seem to be in retreat. The information is not reassuring.

It seems that the gangs have taken literally the statements of the new coordinator of the CPT and those of the new acting police chief, who, at their installation, had announced the tone in the fight against insecurity. More than a week later, we remain in continuity with the old administrations that merely tried to limit the damage. Is it too soon to remind the new authorities that there is urgency in the house?
