The Government Commissioner at the Court of First Instance of Port-au-Prince, Frantz Monclair, was removed from his position less than twenty-four hours after ordering the release of former senator Nenel Cassy, who had been held at the Central Directorate of the Judicial Police (DCPJ) on serious charges, including conspiracy against the internal security of the State, financing criminal organizations, complicity in murder, and criminal association.

In an official correspondence, the Minister of Justice and Public Security, Patrick Pélissier, informed Monclair that he is placed on unpaid leave for “serious administrative misconduct.”
