The U.S. chargé d’affaires in Haiti, Henry Wooster, evaded and clarified during his first exchange with a pool of journalists. Questioned on the existence or not of “concerns” given the past legal troubles of the acting Director General of the HNP, Vladimir Paraison, Henry Wooster pivoted while instead offering firmly set talking points on the continuation of U.S. support for the HNP.

“The USA continues to support the HNP. We have provided equipment and training and we will continue to do so. The USA is a strong partner of the HNP and our commitment is steadfast. It is our priority to fight the gangs because we do not want them to prevail,” responded Henry Wooster, who also offered another evasion regarding the holding of elections this year for the establishment of legitimate authorities.
