A woman was killed, nine people injured — including three police officers — and a Haitian National Police (PNH) vehicle set on fire in Délugé, the first communal section of Montrouis, on the night of Friday, August 29 to Saturday, August 30, 2025, during armed clashes between local bandits and patrolling police officers.

“We were patrolling the commune when we were informed that a group of assailants was sowing panic on National Road Number 1. Seeing a car that seemed suspicious to us, we ordered it to stop. The passengers immediately opened fire on us,” explained the chief police commissioner of Saint-Marc, Jean Jude Chéry. In response to the criminals’ gunfire, “the exchanges lasted more than an hour and a half.”
