“The goal is to strengthen our presence in provincial cities, as demanded by the États généraux at UEH in 2019. It is in this context that we decided to set up this campus in the Grand Sud,” explained UEH Rector Dieuseul Prédélus, contacted by the newspaper. He emphasized that the idea of decentralizing the university is not new, but several constraints had until now prevented its realization.

According to Mr. Prédélus, the choice of the Grand Sud is not accidental. The rector noted that UEH is largely absent in this region. “We have the Limonade campus in the North and other entities across the country, but our presence in the South remains limited, apart from Les Cayes and Jacmel. In Jérémie we only have nursing schools,” he pointed out, stressing that this project aims to bring university education closer to young people in provincial towns.
