The Dominican industrialist Fernando Capellán, head of the Codevi Industrial Park in Ouanaminthe, is counting on the Trump administration and Haiti’s friends in Congress to extend the HOPE/HELP Act for 10 years, essential for the sustainability of the textile industry, the second largest employer after the Haitian government.

“I am always optimistic, sometimes cautiously optimistic, but I am convinced that Haiti’s friends in Congress and within the Trump administration will work tirelessly to extend the legislation by 10 years,” he told Le Nouvelliste in Washington, where he is participating in Haiti’s effort to secure the renewal of this law.
