UNICEF is deeply shocked and concerned by the deaths of ten children in just ten days in Port-au-Prince. According to available information, at least six children and several adults were killed on Saturday night alone during a drone strike in the Simon Pelé neighborhood. Among the victims was a four-year-old girl who lost her life while playing in front of her home. Many other people, including children, were injured, according to a statement issued by UNICEF’s representative in Haiti, Geeta Narayan, on September 23, 2025.
A few days earlier, on September 11, four children were also killed during an attack carried out by armed groups while they were in their home, which was supposed to be a safe and protective place for them. “For far too long, children in Haiti have been caught in cycles of violence. These incidents have once again torn families apart and destroyed any sense of security for children who should simply be able to learn, play, and grow in peace,” Geeta Narayan said in the statement.
