On October 2, night fell over the country without any communiqué announcing the adoption of the new budget for the 2025–2026 fiscal year. Haiti escapes a budget paralysis because, by law, the previous budget is automatically renewed until the new one is adopted.

What remains troubling is to see a government, in the absence of a parliament, without opposition or oversight, unable to adopt its budget within the prescribed timeframe.
