This operation is part of the EU’s response to the humanitarian situation in Haiti following Hurricane Melissa. In addition, the EU has launched a humanitarian air bridge from Panama to Port-au-Prince to deliver essential goods to the country’s population.

The flight arrived around 5 p.m. at Toussaint Louverture International Airport in the presence of several journalists. According to the EU Ambassador to Haiti, Hélène Roos, the cargo includes housing kits, tarpaulins, and medical and sanitary supplies. Several partner organizations contributed to this aid, including the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), and the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
