The Varreux oil terminal has been shut down since Monday, November 17, due to gangs blocking the access roads at a time when gas station stocks are dwindling, Le Nouvelliste learned on Thursday, November 20, 2025.
“There is no supply problem. The access roads are blocked. National Road #1, the Batimat road, La Saline, and Route 9 are blocked. The port area — APN, CPS Varreux — as well as the businesses in the zone are inaccessible by truck or vehicle,” a source close to the Varreux terminal said. “There is no gunfire,” the source specified to Le Nouvelliste. “Viv Ansanm had called on the population to stay home on Monday; Tuesday, November 18 was a holiday. On Wednesday and this Thursday, the terminal is inaccessible. Everyone has been caught off guard,” explained a source close to a petroleum company, confirming that gas station stocks are decreasing.
