The CPT has failed. The coalition in power for the past 18 months has reached none of the transition’s objectives: restoring security, holding a constitutional referendum, and organizing general elections to renew the political leadership. The country’s overall situation has significantly deteriorated.
Nearly 10,000 deaths were recorded during the CPT era. In total, more than 16,000 people have been killed in gang violence in Haiti since January 1, 2022, according to UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk, speaking in October 2025. During this same period, around 7,000 people were injured, he added.
