The Hostellerie du Roi Christophe hosted last Saturday a ceremony marking the end of the training journey of 17 residents from the Justinien University Hospital (HUJ). Five specialties—Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Surgery, Orthopedics, and Obstetrics-Gynecology—saw the emergence of a new generation of physicians ready to strengthen the country's health services.
In his opening remarks, the North Departmental Health Director, Hans Humbold A. Charles, praised a moment “charged with history” where “individual history meets collective history to trace a path of transformation.” He recalled the symbolic and strategic value of this achievement in a weakened national context. According to him, “medical training in Haiti is one of the last pillars capable of rebuilding the quality of care,” highlighting the resilience of institutions in the North and that of Mirebalais in the face of successive crises that have shaken the hospital system.
