The Haitian government has instructed the Embassy of Haiti in Washington to begin démarches with the U.S. authorities to allow Haitian supporters to take part in the World Cup festivities in compliance with the law and in full safety, Ambassador Lionel Delatour said during his remarks at the reception held in honor of the Haitian national football team on 5 December 2025.

“Many Haitians, both in the country and abroad, dream of being in the stadiums next summer to cheer you on, to sing our anthem with you, and to raise the flag at your side. We know how important this moment is for you. We also know that some may encounter difficulties in making this trip,” he said, emphasizing that “this is why the Haitian government has asked the embassy to begin démarches with the authorities in Washington, and these démarches have already been undertaken.”
