The Ministry for the Status of Women and Women’s Rights (MCFDF) officially launched, this Friday at the La Cretonne Hotel in Les Cayes, the General Assembly on “women’s political participation and electoral violence,” under the evocative theme: “There is no democracy or elections without women, zero violence.”

This initiative, which will run from December 12 to 14, 2025, brought together institutional and community stakeholders to reflect on the persistent obstacles limiting women’s engagement in public life. In attendance were presidential advisers Leslie Voltaire and Frinel Joseph, the representative of the women’s sector on the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP), the ambassadors of Mexico and Spain, the representative of UN Women, the representative of BINUH, as well as several political organizations and members of civil society from the South.
