Presidential adviser Leslie Voltaire inaugurated, on Saturday, December 13, 2025, the Southern hub of the tripolar system of rehabilitation homes for children, a project aimed at strengthening the protection and care of minors in situations of vulnerability or in conflict with the law. The ceremony took place in the presence of members of the ministerial cabinet, senior officials from the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor (MAST), and representatives of the Institute of Social Welfare and Research (IBESR).
Designed as a structural response to the deterioration of living conditions for children in Haiti, this system seeks to provide sustainable solutions to the multiple forms of violence and exclusion faced by many minors. Jointly led by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor (MAST) and the Institute of Social Welfare and Research (IBESR), the initiative, according to the former coordinator of the CPT, reflects the State’s determination to refocus public action on the future of children, particularly those forced to live on the streets or exposed to criminal networks.
