Former transitional president of the Republic, Jocelerme Privert, has issued a call for a return to the rule of law through a video message lasting six minutes and twenty seconds, broadcast on the occasion of the year-end holidays. In this address to his fellow citizens, the former head of State painted an alarming picture of the national situation, while advocating for an end to the current political transition and the organization of credible elections.
“My wish for the year 2026 is that it heralds the end of all the calamities and suffering you have endured over the past years,” Mr. Privert declared, recalling that the year-end holidays have traditionally been a time of togetherness, conviviality, and reunions—particularly with Haitians from the diaspora—who are now largely unable to join their loved ones due to insecurity and the ongoing crisis.
