You couldn’t miss it. More than two meters tall and weighing dozens of kilos. Standing like a metal sentinel near the entrance of Saint Joseph School of the Brothers of Christian Instruction, this monumental guitar—tall and massive—captures every gaze. The work was born of the patient assembly of cogs, gears, chains, and mechanical parts worn by time but brought back to life by the ingenuity of sculptor and painter Yvens Orélien. Around it, visitors stop, observe, and pose for photos and selfies, fascinated by this work of art.
In an interview with the newspaper, its creator, Yvens Orélien of the Kayava Workshops, explains that it is above all a work born of recycling and imagination. “It’s a guitar sculpture. It’s an artistic piece made with salvaged materials, discarded objects such as motorcycle parts, automobile parts…,” he confided.
