Presidential advisers Leslie Voltaire and Edgard Leblanc Fils are downplaying the warnings and threats from the international community—particularly those from the United States of America—which has openly opposed the Conseil présidentiel de transition (CPT)’s plan to revoke Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé.

At a press conference held at the Villa d’Accueil on Friday, January 23, Edgard Leblanc stated that the signals sent by so-called “friendly” countries often amount more to diplomatic posturing than to genuine breaks. “In the geopolitical context, it is well known that very often friendly countries announce decisions against another country just for show,” he said, estimating that such positions do not prevent cooperation from continuing afterward.
