Le Nouvelliste has obtained information from reliable sources regarding the latest political maneuverings aimed at filling the presidential vacuum with a judge of the Court of Cassation. One interlocutor set the record straight for the newspaper.

According to our source, the president of the Court of Cassation held a meeting in his office on Monday, February 2, 2026, with a delegation of five citizens, including former senator Jean Renel Sénatus. They discussed the possibility of a presidential vacuum following the expiration of the mandate of the Transitional Presidential Council (CPT) and the need to resort to Article 149 of the 1987 Constitution, a version that is, however, not currently in force.
