The Brazilian government, through its Foreign Ministry, has spoken out on the political situation in Haiti. In a statement sent to the newsroom, the Brazilian government said it is closely following the transition process in Haiti. “With the end of the mandate of the Transitional Presidential Council, which took place on Saturday, February 7, and the formation of the new interim government, Brazil reaffirms its support for the stabilization of Haiti,” the statement reads.
“The Brazilian government remains committed to supporting Haiti in its efforts in public security, the restoration of democratic normalcy, including the holding of elections, and the promotion of economic and social development. Brazil maintains that Haiti’s stabilization should be led by Haitians themselves,” the text concludes.
