“The failure has reached such a level in Haiti that even the highest authorities in power display indefensible behavior in the face of the most serious problems confronting the country,” declared Kesner Pharel on his program Investir last Sunday. In this regard, he cited as an example the striking statements made by the Minister of Commerce concerning the alarming quantity of bacteria contained in sachet and bottled water sold on the Haitian market.
Such a revelation, according to the economic analyst, should have triggered reactions from the health and judicial authorities. No sanctions were taken against the companies responsible for this situation. This reflects the failure of the State and the breakdown of leadership on both the political and economic levels.
