The Ambassador of Canada to Haiti, André François Giroux, handed over ten armored personnel carriers to the Haitian National Police (PNH) during a ceremony also attended by Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé and senior PNH officers on Monday, February 16, 2026. The 10 armored vehicles are intended to strengthen police capacities in several departments of the country. “The deployment of 3 units to the Centre, 3 to the Artibonite, 2 to Cap-Haïtien, and 2 to Port-au-Prince is planned,” a government source told Le Nouvelliste.
Fifteen additional armored vehicles are expected to arrive in Port-au-Prince. Out of an order of 40 armored vehicles placed by the Haitian State, 15 are scheduled to arrive within two to three weeks, Le Nouvelliste has learned. The police have also taken measures to reinforce their personnel in the Central Plateau. “150 police officers will also be deployed to Hinche to consolidate the commune,” the newspaper learned from the same source.
