Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé is considering a thaw in relations between Haiti and the Dominican Republic. “We cannot be Siamese twins who do not speak to each other while living on the same island,” the head of government told Le Nouvelliste when asked about his willingness to travel to the Dominican Republic. “I don’t know yet. That’s a very good question. I am thinking about it,” Mr. Fils-Aimé indicated.
The Prime Minister’s comments come as his government has obtained approval from the Superior Court of Accounts and Administrative Disputes (CSCCA) to execute a contract signed with the company Evergreen Trading System Limited. The project aims to strengthen national security at the borders, optimize tax and customs revenues, and increase the State’s capacity to effectively combat transnational crime, tax fraud, and smuggling.
