A tribute evening was organized on March 12, 2026, in the salons of the Embassy of Haiti in Paris in honor of René Depestre, in order to salute his exceptional contribution to Haitian and Francophone literature. This initiative is part of the celebrations of the life of the writer, whose work has profoundly marked several generations of readers and intellectuals.

The evening’s program included the screening of the documentary “René Depestre, on ne rate pas une vie éternelle,” directed by Haitian filmmaker Arnold Antonin. The film revisits the author’s literary and personal journey as well as the impact of his work on Caribbean and world literature.
