Elements of the Kenyan contingent of the international security mission have begun their withdrawal from Haiti after completing their mission, which consisted of helping Haitian security forces contain armed gangs. This marks the transition toward the Anti-Gang Suppression Force.
A group of 215 Kenyan police officers, who made up the second contingent of the Multinational Security Support Mission, arrived in Nairobi earlier this week, the Kenyan Ministry of Interior confirmed in a statement. Last Friday, a smaller contingent of troops from the Bahamas and Jamaica, which formed the Caribbean component, also left Port-au-Prince, the Miami Herald reported.
