The Director of the Directorate of Immigration and Emigration (DIE), Antoine Jean Simon Fénélon, along with nine other officials of the institution, were released on Friday, March 27, 2026, following their hearing at the Port-au-Prince prosecutor’s office. They had been apprehended by the Central Directorate of the Judicial Police (DCPJ) for issuing “genuine-fake” passports to foreigners.
The head of the Port-au-Prince prosecutor’s office, Jean Fritz Patterson Dorval, confirmed to Le Nouvelliste the release of these 10 individuals under investigation, while announcing that a travel ban had been imposed on them. This decision aims to ensure their availability as the investigation continues.
