The trade unionist Dominique St-Éloi, member of the National Central of Haitian Workers (CNOHA), spoke on the airwaves of Magik 9 on April 15, 2026, to present the demands of labor organizations regarding the minimum wage. This protest movement, launched on April 13, 2026, aims to compel the government to take a position on wage adjustments in a context marked by rising living costs.
At the core of the demands is an increase in the minimum wage, which unions want to raise to 3,000 gourdes. According to Dominique St-Éloi, this demand is mainly explained by the rise in petroleum product prices, which has direct repercussions on all household daily expenses. He recalls that a draft report from the CFC was submitted to the Prime Minister’s Office as early as April 2025, without any concrete follow-up to date.
