The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship (MAEC) and the Embassy of Taiwan in Haiti organized, on Friday, April 17, 2026, at the Karibe Hotel, a cocktail reception to celebrate 70 years of relations between the two countries. The short and solemn ceremony, yet rich in symbolism, was held in the presence of Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé, Minister of Foreign Affairs Raina Forbin, Taiwan’s Ambassador to Haiti Cheng-Hao Hu, and representatives of the diplomatic corps.
In the opening moments of his speech, Prime Minister Fils-Aimé expressed the deep gratitude of the Haitian people for the constant support and enduring friendship of the Taiwanese people. The head of government reaffirmed the willingness of Haitian authorities to elevate this partnership toward areas of cooperation with higher added value. He paid tribute to Taiwan’s “constant support,” notably citing the assistance provided after the devastating January 2010 earthquake and during the COVID-19 pandemic—two trials during which Port-au-Prince was able to count on Taipei.
