Three months ago, the country entered a new phase of its long post-Jovenel Moïse transition. This May 7 marks exactly three months since Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé was granted full powers to try to lead the country out of the crisis. Holding both the positions of Prime Minister and President of the Republic, Didier Fils-Aimé had committed, upon the departure of the Transitional Presidential Council on February 7, to steering the country toward credible elections. To achieve this, he must create sufficient security conditions. Three months later, where do we stand?
No one can say with certainty when the next elections will take place. This concerns not only the electoral contests, but also the end of this long transition. The initial electoral decree, which had scheduled the first round of voting for next August, no longer stands. The government, apparently, is in no hurry to publish a new electoral decree.
