With 14 specialists in various medical and surgical fields and the introduction of laser urological surgery, the Grand’Anse health department is doing everything possible to bridge a gap that has existed for many years regarding the availability of healthcare services at Hôpital Saint-Antoine de Jérémie.

“From the moment I took over the leadership of the Grand’Anse health department, I carried out an assessment of the services available at Hôpital Saint-Antoine de Jérémie. I realized that all serious cases were being referred to the South department: fractures, peritonitis, and even cesarean sections,” Dr. Boutroce Gally Pierre explained in an interview with the daily newspaper Le Nouvelliste on Wednesday, May 13, 2026.
