For several years now, Samuel Suffren’s name has regularly appeared at major international film events. This year again, the Haitian filmmaker is reaching a new milestone by participating in Fabrique Cinéma 2026, a program led by the Institut français in partnership with the Cannes Film Festival and the Marché du Film. Through this selection, his project “Pays poète éternel” will benefit from support aimed at facilitating its development and fundraising efforts.

Organized this year from May 12 to 21, Fabrique Cinéma highlights around ten first or second feature film projects from countries of the Global South in each edition. The program allows selected filmmakers to present their works to producers, distributors, and industry professionals attending Cannes. For Haiti, Samuel Suffren’s presence represents another opportunity to amplify a cinematic voice that remains far too underrepresented on major international stages.
