On May 27, the inauguration of the specialized judicial units dedicated to mass crimes and sexual violence, as well as complex financial crimes, marked a major step forward in the effective implementation of these units since their creation in April 2025. However, the choice of magistrates selected to staff these units has not been well received by everyone. This is the case for Rosy Auguste Ducéna. Appearing on the program Panel Magik on Friday, May 29, 2026, the Program Director of the National Human Rights Defense Network (RNDDH) expressed concerns regarding these appointments.
And for her, there are numerous reasons for concern. One of the main criticisms relates to the selection of certain magistrates who, according to her, carry questionable records. As an example, Ms. Ducéna cited Magistrate Jean Michel Raymond for his handling in 2015 of the highly publicized case involving Woodly Ethéart (alias Sonson La Familia) and Lionel Nelfort (alias Lionel Le Récif), who were accused, among other things, of kidnapping. That case ended with the defendants being acquitted by the judge overseeing the matter, Lamarre Bélizaire.
