"We Have All Failed. The Failure Is Collective. If We Are All Aware of That, We Can Make a New Start. If We Have All Failed, Then We Can All Succeed Together," entrepreneur Richard Coles said during an interview with the website Haïti Inter in Paris. This acknowledgment of failure has prompted members of the country's economic elite to propose a new national project, Haiti 2055. According to Coles, it is a 30-year vision for Haitian society.
"Where do we want to be in 30 years? We know everyone wants a sovereign, prosperous, and inclusive society, but how do we get there with all the divisions within the country? It is not enough to say we want to become a prosperous society in 30 years. We need a plan, a roadmap," Richard Coles said, emphasizing that the roadmap begins with the recognition that we have all failed. "If we accept that we have all failed together, then we will all succeed together," he argued, adding that the Haitian diaspora is also included in the Haiti 2055 project.
