The United Kingdom will allocate £5.6 million to support the Gang Suppression Force (GSF) in Haiti. The announcement was made by Chris Elmore, the U.K. Minister for Latin America and the Caribbean, while attending the 51st Meeting of CARICOM Heads of Government. "The UK has confirmed up to £5.6 million over the next two years to support @GSForceHaiti, continuing our work to improve security, protect women and girls, and support free and fair elections," he wrote on his X account. His announcement was subsequently relayed by the British Embassy in Port-au-Prince.

This new British contribution comes just days after a similar announcement by Canada in support of security efforts in Haiti. Following the 56th General Assembly of the Organization of American States (OAS), held in Panama, Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs Anita Anand announced a total funding package of CAD 35.3 million aimed at strengthening security and stability across the Americas. Of that amount, CAD 26.3 million has been earmarked specifically for Haiti, primarily to support the Gang Suppression Force (GSF) and assist the Haitian authorities in their efforts to combat armed groups.
